heirloom braided rug

This rug was handmade by my client's partner's grandmother, and passed down for generations. Loose fabric ends had gotten chewed by some enthusiastic pets, leaving some holes that needed filling. I learned how these rugs were traditionally made, and then figured out a way to integrate new strips of wool fabric within the existing strips to make these inline braided patches. Waxed cotton thread is used to secure the braided strips into the structure of the whole rug.
